I recently visited the Gold Centre Maryborough shop in Victoria wanting to trade in my detector and coils to upgrade to a second hand MINELAB GPX 4500 and I chose a COILTEK 10 x 5″ Joey coil.

Wow! This was the best thing that I have ever done!

I decided to go out this particular day in my old Commodore wagon with my dog as company. I had my new GPX 4500 and the 10 x 5″ Joey coil. Where to start once I reached my destination was my next decision. I took a stroll to make my mind up, walking some hillsides and gullies. As I was already in the Dunolly goldfields my decision was to not search near any old diggings as I believe these areas have already been flogged enough. I searched out an area that looked like it would be gold bearing and it also had some usual indicators that this could be a potential spot. To my surprise I came across a very strong signal. I dug up a huge 13 ounce nugget. Over the next couple of months I found 25 pieces of gold ranging from .11g to the 405grammer.
