Tell us about yourself?
My name is Artur Kropiwiec, I am a Pole living in West Yorkshire, England. With my reach on social media, I try to bring together everyone who shares the effect of metal detection, as well as cool
photos and video breaks. My social media presence continues to grow and my favourite detector was the Equinox 800. Now I have the Minelab Manticore.
What interested/attracted you to buy your first metal detector?
I have always liked history and read a lot of books. When I first came to this moment, I bought my first detector and started searching the land.
When did you use your first Coiltek coil, and how did you find this experience?
Coiltek 15″ Coil for Minelab Equinox was the coil that I bought for my detector, and I can honestly say I was surprised by its depth. One day I was in a pasture where I couldn’t find anything, and I found a very nice silver coin and many other coins and most of them were deep so I can’t wait for the manticore coil.
How has metal detecting benefitted your lifestyle?
Metal detecting has changed my life forever. I travel a lot around England, and I even bought a towing caravan so I can spend the night in a field or near the beach where I dig. My wife is often with
me and helps me develop my passion.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start metal detecting?
My advice to people who are starting or even already looking is to focus on what they are doing andnot worry that others find cool things and you cannot. Each of us has our own path and I believe that there are many things waiting to be discovered somewhere. So today someone tomorrow could be you. The most important thing is to listen to the equipment and focus on what you are doing.
What has been your most significant experience or find to date?
I’ve already made some cool finds. Silver denarii roman hoard. Celtic gold coin in like new condition. Stirrup mount which I found a year ago and is the only one of its kind in England. And recently, a beautiful Roman l fibula and a gold-plated Cruciform Brooch. These were beautiful finds and some were featured in Treasure Hunting magazine.
Who or what inspired you to start detecting?
I have been fascinated by the Roman world for years, so this is my inspiration. From school and from books I was always impressed by Emperor Nero and after many years I knew and dug up his silver coin in the UK. It was a truly amazing moment that I will remember forever.
