I was hunting on a mound in the region of my home village. After a while detecting a frog jumped on the Coiltek coil attached to my metal detector. It looked as if it waited for me to take a picture and then jumped off and went on its way.

Still flabbergasted I hunted on and after a couple of meters the metal detector gave a loud signal and the VDI showed a 17. I quickly dug a hole and discovered a beautiful silver coin. After being 330 years in the ground, I held it my hands.

The coin is a “rijderschelling” from the city of Groningen, minted in 1691.

I wanted to thank the frog…. But couldn’t find it….
